The Green Files: Going Dotty With OPI Green-Wich Village

Mar05

Hi!

In the run up to Earth Day 2012 which falls on 22 Apr 2012, I have decided to do a little series focusing on Green-themed nails and eyemakeup. While we should be eco-concious throughout the year and not just during the Earth Day campaign period, I thought this would be a nice (albeit frou-frou) way to support the campaign. Of course, Green shades are one of my favourites and I have quite a few in my stash so this is also a way of showcasing them. I hope you will enjoy this series and join me too :)

To start things off, I pulled out one of the prettiest green creme nail polishes I have in my stash - OPI Green-wich Village.

It was never on my radar till I saw Kim using it for her Comic Strip Nails and I fell in love instantly. OPI Green-wich Village is a bright, yellow-toned, leaf green. I love it beacause despite it's brightness, it is neither jarring nor neon. Rather than an opaque creme, it has a bit of a squishy jelly finish and my bottle took about 3 think coats for complete opacity (my nail line is naturally rather prominent).

This is also the perfect shade of green that reminds me of the universally recognisable Recycle sign

And here is how I wore OPI Green-wich Village - with white polka dots as an accent on 2 nails

I've been trying to do polka dot manicures with my dotting tool but somehow just can't seem to control the dotting tool - the dots always turn out crooked, lumpy or too big. I need more practice but am impatient for a dotty manicure so to my rescue are nail art pens (the 2-way type that can be used as a pen or with a striping brush) which I recently bought off eBay.

I really like my green dotty manicure and somehow, it has put a spring into my step this wet and rainy Monday :)

Thanks for stopping by and have yourself a fab week :)

Kim: I first noticed this colour when I visited you at the flea! And then I snapped it up at PNC! Thank you! I wanted to alternate black and white dots but I messed the placement the first time and then gave up. I want to try that retro curtain one you did sometime back - need to go find that entry of yours again

Jansunday: thanks! the new China Glaze one, Gaga For Green is rather similar; a touch brighter though. Greenwich Village is from a 2008 OPI Collection (Mod About Brights) that I was just very lucky to find; not sure if it's still in circulation) Smiling
