HAUL: TODAY WAS A DIOR DAY ... A VERY DIOR DAY ...

Nov25

Hi!

Seeing how I am going to be up till the wee hours of the morning - out of guilt for skipping to town for the DIOR SALE earlier today, I thought I'd quickly post this haul entry up and then be ultra studious :P ... ok, I confess - partly because I'm elated with the haul. There .. I said it :P

I wasn't too hopeful about snagging the eyeshadow quints so I was thrilled to see quite a good selection of eyeshadow - quite a few purple-themed ones. It would have been smashing if they had the eyeshadow quint in CRUSH GLOW though (LOL! Asking for it right?!).

From what I've seen at the counters, the prices of the eyeshadow quints sometimes seem to vary a little depending on the collection - the most recent Holiday 2010 Collection's quints were priced at SGD$94 but I was told some others are between SGD$89-91.  I'm not the most familiar with them - I usually admire them from afar (not just at the Dior counters but on Iris' blog! LOL! (well, recently I got up close and personal with the quint in FIVE GOLDS but that's another story, another entry *wink*).  Here are the ones I picked up today:

How can I possibly leave this behind - Love at First Swatch....

I got a little reminded of Iris' TOKIDOKI quad when I saw this - not quite the same, but the blue and the bronzey brown reminded me of cute little MOZZARELLA!

I didn't take this at first but then as I kept looking at it again and again, I knew I was going to regret if I didn't, so it came home too!

This was Limited Edition ... soo pretty with the lace motifs that will disappear soon enough ... but soooo sooo pretty!

Each Quint was priced at SGD$35 at the sale.

**************************************************************

Love the name!

This was SGD$12 at the sale

*****************************************************************************

All the lipsticks and lipgloss I picked up retailed at SGD$15 at the sale - I was really tempted to get more but quickly walked away so I won't give in to temptation! I have one Rouge Dior Addict lipstick (Exotic Pink) and I love the texture while I've bought my mom the Rouge Diors a couple of times so I was confident about the texture and payoff :) If I remember correctly, the Rouge Diors retail for around SGD$40?

A reddish-coppery shade that reflects a lot of gold shimmer - well at least in the lighting that I swatched it in!

This swatched as a reddened caramel shade - but it looks pretty red in normal lighting. But its lovely either way!

I was thrilled when I saw this because I quite remember swatching this at Robinsons Centrepoint (unless I mixed up the numbers) and I thought the mauve-rose shade with fine shimmer was lovely.

And I'm like a child - the holographic-esque boxes really get me with all the teal and orange flashes!

Somehow this refused to photograph accurately until what must have been my 20th attempt! A deep hot pink - hence the name - and now, I have Michael Buble's Fever stuck in replay in my head ... I thought of my mom when I picked this up and am intending to give it to her :)

Loveeeeeee ...

************************************************************************

Je t'aime, ma chérie!

I have been wanting MISS DIOR CHERIE for the LONGEST time and today, I snagged the EDT for SGD$70 (100ml)! Wheeeee!

*****************************************************************

Yeah, so I played truant from my own revision time-table today and will pay dearly for it by sitting up tonite with my books. But really, I'm soo happy and satisfied with the haul so that's a good thing!

I actually have several haul entries (ahem...) lurking in the background, including my METRO LADIES NIGHT haul but I can't squeeze them in right now - after exams! :)

Have a great week and weekend and thanks for stopping by!

Kas~ was the stock level of the quints still good when you left? am wondering if everything would have been sold out if I head down tomorrow already...been dying to own a quint from Dior

SereneMoMo: Hi! Ok, when I left, they had quite a number of quints in the various colours I picked up, and a few more in other shades like INCOGNITO, PURPLE CRYSTAL and I remember seeing one more TWILIGHT. I did hear the staff say that they will re-stock but they also warned that most of what they had was there. Why not try going down early? I overheard the lady say that tomorow's sale starts at 9am (but I'm really not 100% sure abt that info). Yeah, I've been dying to get hold of the quints - and they're a real good deal at the sale! :) Hope you get your hands on something you like!

I'm SO jealous. We never have any secret sales here nor any blogger events LOL This is probably the most awesome Dior haul I've ever seen, lucky girl. Anyways, calculate how much you'd usually spend on that stuff and compare the difference...wuah!

Anna Crystal: Hi! Where are you based? Some makeup brands like Bobbi Brown, MAC, Shiseido, KOSE, Givenchy tend to hold such sales once in a while (Shiseido has held a couple already though) - its not often super publicised and we tend to hear of it from friends and the lucky few who somehow manage to get the info. Some are very tightly regulated - the MAC and Bobbi Brown ones require tickets to get in (which can be a little hard to come by).
LOL! Thank you thank you - I feel a little guilty have spent so much at one shot but yes, when you do the Makeup Math, its really worth it! Of course, I wish there'd been a couple more quints (I like the gold ones - they swatch amazingly!).

What else should you spend your money on!?!?!!? Make-up was produced to make us feel beautiful and to get purchased by us, so ~ nothing to feel guilty about.

Good, old, boring Germany~ really NOTHING happens here. We don't even have Sephoras. Oh ... no Nordstroms, no Saks, no cool malls. You can imagine how much money I spent when I was in Singapore then, haha

Ahhhhh! so envious!!! I missed so many sales and interesting events while I'm here :( First the retrolicious party, then the Shiseido sale, and also the Dior sale! *sob* thinking of all the great discounts i could have gotten.

Anna: LOL! Ok, I like you - welcome to my world, my chum! LOL! Oh so you were Singapore-based before? I was worse when I was working - I had more money to spend (!) plus my workplace was rather centrally located so when I had a good day, I'd hop onto the bus and go to town and shop - when I had a bad day, I'd hop onto the bus and go to town to shop! :P Even with my stipend, there's no respite from hauling but I'm proud to say, I'm not a collector - I use everything I buy, even if it sits BNIB in the drawer for a bit :) and I care little for packaging (In the sense that I don't buy a sucky product or "not my type" product just because Im suckered by packaging :)

Elizawoods: Hello! Wait, what retrolicious party??? I missed it tooooo! and I'm HERE!!! Don't worry, when you come back, am sure there'll be loads of stuff for you to pick up! Or you can ask ur Sg-based friends to help you buy when the sales come by? :)

Hey Kas,
I've used Pearl Glow close to 10 times now and the lace motif is still visible on my quint. I try to avoid touching the motif (which you can do on most shades except the bottom left corner one) but even for the shades that I regularly run over the lace part with the applicator, the lace print is able to survive through a few uses. I'm sure you are going to love playing with all of your gorgeous new quints! Although, do be warned that they are very addictive :-)

Wow at your haul, the prices were such a steal and omg, you got Miss Dior Cherie! Now don't go describing the scent! I know how it smells like and it's not too bad but if you describe it I might change from not-too-bad to must-get. Lol.

Iris: Really? Ok that's awesome to hear! Yes, I think they very well might be addictive! I do regret a little not picking up CRUSH GLOW (and I totally love the 2 gold themed ones you featured in your updated Quints picture in your entry yesterday - first row, extreme right) :D

*********************************************************************
SereneMoMo: Wheee! let me know what you managed to pick up ok? :)

Ladeekim: Go go if you can! Can you go during lunch? Hopefully payment queues are not as long as yesterday. But admittedly, the sale was conducted in a great way - SAs all very polite, no pushing / frenzy, cashier worked really fast despite there being only 1 payment point and all the products were so neat and clean :)

******************************************************************
Jerlaine: I think the one that my hands immediately went flying to was Smoky Crystal - Iris had already picked it out for me but I didn't know what it looked like and I went to the quints table and I was totally wowed by it and then was thrilled I had it in my bag! LOL! Yessss, we meet for makan and shopping after 1 week Dec ok? :D

BeadsandEnds: Aww, this kinda thing, I just will tell myself - USE AND ENJOY! Besides, I have the shots of it in pristine condition on my blog! LOL! Thanks thanks - will use them soon (as well as the 5 million other things I picked up recently!) :D

******************************************************************
Sara: LOL! Didn't realise my fragrance descriptions affected you so much! LOL! Ok, Miss Dior Cherie EDT is a less sweet version of the EDP - I cldn't resist and sprayed a little on my wrist last night - somehow, I feel the floral notes is a litte more dominant in the EDT, while I can really detect the sweetness (caramelly kinda sweetness) in the EDP ... that one's to be shown in another haul entry! *wink*

Natasha: Wait! Weren't you in the queue to pay before I even got inside the sale room? And I think I saw a couple more of Feverish Pink when I did pick it up. Yes! Silk Fuchsia is sooo lovely - I had been tempted by a similar looking one at the Metro sale (also a fuchsia shade) but chose a different one in the end :)

***********************************************************
Amy: I'm not sure how much the 100ml EDT version actually retails for but if I remember correctly, the 100ml EDP retails for SGD$198 .. so the EDT might not be very far off. I honestly prefer EDPs but I like the scent and I liked the price even better, so I grabbed it! :D

Anonymous and Starcy: Hi there. The sale was open to the public. However, it was for only 2 days (25 and 25 Nov 2010). Such sales are usually only for one or 2 days and often, its best to go on the first day and a little early. Stocks do get replenished sometimes but if there are somethings you really want, its best to go early. Usually, we hear of such sales by word of mouth and some websites / forums do publicise the information (I think probably Tua Lobang posts such information too).

Brands like MAC, Bobbi Brown hold such private sales abt once a year; this is the first time I've heard of / am attending a Dior sale. Shiseido holds such sale as and when too (great buys) and Kose will be holding one next week. Hope this helps :) :flower:
