OPERATION COVERT SNAPSHOT + HAUL: OPI BURLESQUE COLLECTION (Incldg SWATCHES!) - UPDATED WITH 1 & 2 COAT NAIL SWATCHES!

Sep11

ZOMG!!! The glitter in these polishes are like kapowwwww!

Ok, sorry for being abruptly rude - Hello Everyone! Haha!

Its been a while since I took sneaky snapshots and what better way to restart that habit by zooming in on the OPI BURLESQUE Collection???

EDIT: I picked these up at PALZ (@ Far East Plaza).  From what I know, these are also currently available at ROBINSONS CENTREPOINT (Toiletries section)

L-R: SHOW IT AND GLOW IT; SPARKLE-ISCIOUS; RISING STAR; TAKE THE STAGE; THE SHOW MUST GO ON; LET ME ENTERTAIN YOU

COLOUR DESCRIPTIONS ACCORDING TO LIPGLOSSIPING.COM:

  • SHOW IT AND GLOW IT: PURPLE / FUSCHIA glitter

  • SPARKLEIS-CIOUS: MULTI-COLOURED glitter

  • RISING STAR: LUSTROUS GLIMMERING GOLD

  • TAKE THE STAGE: WARM ORANGE shimmer

  • THE SHOW MUST GO ON: DEEP PINK shimmer

  • LET ME ENTERTAIN YOU: FUSCHIA glimmer

NOTE: I compared a swatch of SPARKLE-ISCIOUS and OPI MAD AS A HATTER in the store and they seemed very very similar.

Also, while THE SHOW MUST GO ON looks like a pinky-red-gold duochrome in the bottle, I somehow don't quite see the same duochrome effect translated on this swatch; perhaps it needs more coats or better lighting?

L-R: SIMMER AND SHIMMER; EXTRA-VA-VAGANZA; GLOW UP ALREADY; BRING ON THE BLING; TEASY DOES IT; ALI'S BIG BREAK

COLOUR DESCRIPTIONS ACCORDING TO LIPGLOSSIPING.COM:

  • SIMMER AND SHIMMER: BLUE glitter

  • EXTRA-VA-VAGANZA: ORANGE glitter

  • GLOW UP ALREADY: GREEN glitter

  • BRING ON THE BLING: GOLDEN glitter

  • TEASY DOES IT: BURGUNDY shimmer

  • ALI'S BIG BREAK: GLOWING RED shimmer

NOTE: All the glitters are essentially multi-coloured - like the Bring On The Bling has pre-dominantly orange glitter but a smattering of other coloured glitter that makes it go wild!

And, as with THE SHOW MUST GO ON, TEASY DOES IT looked like a burgundy-gold duochrome but again, looked a little blah on the swatch - I'll qualify that the blahness could be attributed to the lighting.  Nonetheless, I steered clear of them both - with the rapid way my nail polish stash is growing (how I wish the bank account would grow the same way!), I am trying not to "take chances" with any shades any more.

****************************************************************

And here are the 2 shades I picked up - I'm a glitter fiend and I already have OPI MAD AS A HATTER so naturally, I went for the glitter polishes! I'll confess though - I was very tempted to pick up THE SHOW MUST GO ON (even though the duochrome wasn't prominent in the swatch, I was willing to give it a chance but decided against it eventually).  The orange glitter, EXTRA-VA-VAGANZA is also pretty but I already ordered CHINA GLAZE ICK-A-BODY (orange glitter) with Gwen in her Transdesign spree (is it here yet???! LOL!)

I also included blurred shots of the bottles to show how blingy-bling-bling the polishes are - they look like jewels!

 *** UPDATE ***

Here are nail swatches of GLOW UP ALREADY and SIMMER AND SHIMMER.

I just painted these on like I would normal polish - usually with glitter, you can use a "dabbing" motion to really pile on the glitter.

  • 1 thin coat looks a little sparse but if you just intend to layer it over another polish (like a glitter top-coat), 1 thin (or thin-medium) coat may be more than sufficient (unless you don't want to see much of the base polish colour).

  • You can see that 2 coats (the second coat being a thin-medium coat) really creates quite a blingy effect.

Have any of these caught your fancy? Which ones would you be inclined to wear? :)

That's all for now; thanks for stopping by and have a lovely weekend!

************************************************************************************

DISCLAIMER: Both OPI Nail Polishes featured were purchased with my own money.

The SIMMER AND SHIMMER; EXTRA-VA-VAGANZA are so pretty! EXTRA-VA-VAGANZA looks more like pink glitter to me on the picture (;

wooots, finally can commment, on a good day, when I am firmly in my own account, AND in your blog entry. haha.
yes, all the glitters look soooo pretty, good for me that I am not a huge glitter fiend like you, or else it would be so hard to resist any one of them.
i am happy with my holo glitters and a few others in my stash...plus the thought of having to remove them, and also I switch colors so often, it is a little hassle to get rid of the glitters. glow up -- looks like RBL Lavacore, no?

SOPHIA:!!! OMG! Like FINALLY you managed to get into ur own acct and my blog entry!!! LOL! Yaah, I DID have a hard time choosing but I decided to go with the 2 I didn't already have. I shall swatch them later today and update entry with my own swatch pics soon. I think GLOW UP ALREADY takes on different shades depending on the base colour? Like I swatched it on its own and it looked greeny and then when it was on top of Catch Me In Your Net, it looked more gold. Have to see your swatch of RBL Lavacore again Laughing out loud

Priscilla: They are around $32-33 for 2 bottles. Am not too sure but am guessing swatches are 2 coats (prolly thin-medium coats)

Ladeekim: Yesss! Its very interesting - I want to see how it looks like on Jade Is The New Black!

Amy: In fact I saw them in Robinsons Centrepoint in end-Aug; PALZ just brought them in a couple of days ago. Yesss! MAAH and SPARKLE-ISCIOUS are v v close. Actually, i'm quite liking the deep gold shade also - it looks wonderful beside the orange!

Lucy: Hi there Smiling Hmm, you mean out on online retailers? The last time I checked Transdesign (which is the only e-tailer I'm familiar with), it was not listed. I'm not too sure about the Singapore-based e-tailer Nail Vibe Sg though. It should be out online soon I guess. But if you're Singapore-based and cannot wait (like me!) you can get them at Palz or Robinsons Centrepoint Smiling ANd yes, I LOVE Glitter too!

Priscilla: I didn't mind paying a little extra (it works out to be abt $5-6 more per bottle, by buying it at Palz instead of a spree) but I had seen them in the flesh in end-Aug in Robinsons and I just really wanted them. I've already tried both the glitters and I found a few combinations I like - am wearing Glow Up Already as I type. I think Rising Star and Take the Stage (gold and orange) are very pretty also (temptations!!! Laughing out loud). As I mentioned, I already have OPI Mad As A Hatter so I skipped Sparkle-iscious - I saw both the swatches on the wheels side by side and they looked too similar for me to justify getting the latter

$5-6 more? are they priced more expensively than the usual range? cos if there's no change in price, we are talking about $22 difference here. yeah, they are pretty indeed, but i really need to see swatches before making the final decision or else i might just end up getting everything in this collection and that is not a good thing!

oh really? are they that similar but i saw some bottle pictures and i don't find them alike, but i guess we'll know soon, won't we? cos i'm sure nail bloggers will compare it to MAAH. haha, i guess if they are similar, it's good news for those who missed out on MAAH (me). Heh, who knew that glitters can spark so much hype. I mean we saw the amazing matte, suede and cosmic fx collections, but i believe the interest in this collection will be phenomenal.

*oh, opps! sorry, i misread your comment, you meant to say that you spend $32-33 for both bottles in total right. so each bottle adds up to about $16/$16.50 each. but wow, how come they are manage to get stocks for it so fast though. heh and i thought people usually sell OPI for $24. looks like i might just pop by that place when i go for my mani/pedi sessions at far east.

Priscilla: Yep - I calculated that with sprees, after conversion and shipping, I think OPIs come up to about 10ish (I never really know exactly how much cos shipping sometimes differs) - so these cost me about $16 per bottle; I didnt mind paying $5-6 for the instant gratification Smiling I totally regret not taking a comparison pic of MAAH and Sparkle-iscious; at least when I saw them, they looked real similar - even the SA was like "same, same" as she thrust the wheel with the MAAH swatch into my hands.

So much bling! Love how Simmer and Shimmer looks but the pain of removing glitter is kind of off-putting. It's usually spells using a ton of polish remover. haha.

kas: haha, really. that's good and bad news for me. good news is because i missed out on MAAH, bad news was because i really like how the bottle looks promising, with a purple base which i adore unlike the clear base of MAAH. i really want hope they get released soon!

sara: haha, use the foil method, easy and fuss free than using the normal removal method Smiling

Sara: Its not toooo bad if you don't pile on too much glitter actually; also I now cut squares of cotton and soak them in the remover and let them sit on my nails for about a minute or so - come off pretty easily

Chocfull: Did you get any? Or will you be getting any?

Priscilla: All the glitter polishes are in a clear base if my eyes are not playing tricks on me ... i'm pretty sure Sparkle-iscious is also in a clear base.
