OPERATION COVERT SWATCH: CHANEL HOLIDAY 2010, DIOR HOLIDAY 2010 & YSL ROUGE PUR COUTURE LIPSTICKS!

Oct31

Hello!

I haven't done one of these sneaky swatch and snapshot ops in a long time but managed to do so last week and yesterday!

Let's check out the swatches! (All swatches are medium swatches, NO base and on NC43-45 skintone)

CHANEL HOLIDAY 2010

Iris and I spotted the CHANEL HOLIDAY Collection at Tangs and swatched away yesterday.

The Eyeshadow Quad in TENTATION CUIVRE was very pretty in the compact but unfortunately, only the 2 coppery bronzey shades appealed to me:

**********************************************************

The fluid iridescent eyeshadow in SPLASH is very pretty - HOWEVER, since its fluid (rather than a cream), the solid pigments in the eyeshadow tend to settle at the bottom of the frosted tube.  Despite shaking the tube vehemently to get the liquid and solid (powdery?) pigments to mix, my swatch kept turning out rather watery.  I have one of these from sometime back in a deep purple and I have the same problem - I need to use a little stick (like a Q-tip without the cotton) to mix it up properly for even, solid application.

*******************************************************************

The TWEED FUSCHIA blush looks great in the pan - however, the bronzey gold tweed design had rubbed away from the centre of the tester.  The blush itself does appear to have some fine shimmer but I couldn't tell for sure (since there was some bronzey gold micro-glitter from the tweed design still remaining.  Its a pretty pink - the type that'll give you that flushed, just come in from the cold (or in our case, just ran a mini-marathon) kind of look.

******************************************************************

I was a wee bit disappointed with how pale Rouge Coco in MAGNOLIA turned out - I was expecting a slightly stronger shade.  That said, I really do like how PATCHOULI looks - on my skintone, it turned out looking like a bronzed pink! I am soooo tempted (and I really shouldn't be!)

The glossimers, as usual, are beautifully sparkly but this time, I was more attracted to PLEASING - a coppery, bronzey shade.  I really shouldn't indulge, given how I still have at least 3 Chanel glossimers that are BNIB. Sigh. You can check out ROUGEDELUXE for clearer swatches of the Glossimers HERE

DIOR HOLIDAY 2010

Ok, confess - this one, I really like and .... dare I say it? Ok, I WANT!
Official Promo Image of DIOR Holiday 2010

This is the Dior quint in FIVE GOLDS!! I've swatched a couple of Dior quints before but I think of all I've swatched, I like this one the best.  And the texture was superb - rich, smooth and pigmented - I didn't want to clean it off!

The other quint (Endless Shine) was pretty, but swatched more frosty (and one shade totally reminded me of NARS Mekong, with its dark espresso base and gold sparkles).

Also one of the lippies in the collection, #247 held my gaze - a sweet rosy shade that we've probably seen elsewhere, but somehow, I just liked how it looked.  I have one Dior lipstick (from the Addict range) in Exotic Pink and I love the texture - this one was also similarly smooth pigmented (this was a light swatch)

The collection appears to be available only in Robinsons (?) for now - the Tangs counter I checked with indicated so and mentioned that it will be available at all other counters from mid-Nov 2010 onwards. I think I want to stalk the counters for this!

YSL ROUGE PUR COUTURE LIPSTICKS

And finally, I managed to see these in person, at DFS Scotts yesterday! I might have one of these on the way to me *crosses fingers*!

I swatched all the shades available and in my frenzy (and attempting to avoid the BA), I forgot to check out the price! Duh! Oh, and I also managed to smear the red shade on my shirt (in the chest area .. sigh)

My favourites in this range? #4, #9  and #13 (a screaming orange!) and I know my mom will love the fuschia shade in #7.  #12 is actually a TRANSFORMER Shade - its used to change other lipsticks when layered either underneath or on top.  I didn't manage to play with it, since one of the BAs kept hovering over me.

Karlasugar has excellent clear swatches of all the shades (DFS Scotts does not seem to carry some of the shades, for now at least) HERE

****************************************************************

Hope you find the swatches useful!

HAS ANYTHING CAUGHT YOUR EYE?

WILL YOU BE CHECKING OUT THESE COLLECTIONS IN PERSON?

QWIC-PIC: OK, I PLEAD GUILTY - AN UNDECLARED MAKEUP STASH!

Jun22

Hello!

So I've been vascillating between a "to post" or "not to post" (of course without the angst and the torment of Hamlet) and finally decided to ... Sophia has already seen some of this hitherto undeclared stash anyway.  Not all of these were purchased at one shot though and some were purchased just before I started blogging (or before I had a decent camera!).

Here goes ...

DECLARING THE UNDECLARED CHANEL GLOSSIMER STASH ...

L-R: 106 MYRIADE; 128 METEORE; 114 AMBERLIGHT; 118 GOLDLIGHT; 98 GALACTIC; 122 NEBULA;

129 COSMOS; 131 MICA

And this last pic is simply because I cannot resist using the starburst effect!

A few of the Glossimers were limited edition (because they were not available at all counters and the BAs told me they were LE).  I've used 4 of them (Myriade, Amberlight, Nebula and Meteore) and the rest are BNIB! Terrible right? Buy and Keep! I I decided to keep them in the boxes when I'm rotating them primarily because someone at Chanel decided it was ok just to print ONLY THE NUMBER of the glossimer on the tube and leave out the name. Sigh. And because I rotate my glosses and I haven't used these as often as I use my MAC glosses, I usually use a disposable gloss applicator (at least for Nebula and Meteore since they're much newer and I had the brains to do so) so I cut down on contaminating them with bacteria, etc - "no double dipping".

****************************************************

And this one ... well, I completely forgot about it. Which is never a good sign ...

Monogrammed with their iconic rose emblem!

This LANCOME PALETTE LIBERTE in INDIGO ROYAUTE is from LANCOME's Aaron de Mey DECLARING INDIGO Collection ... I got this in a value set with a indigo nail polish (which I wore in an NOTD here), a full-sized eyeliner and mascara as well as some other goodies.  Each shade is 1.2gm which is about the size of a MAC eyeshadow.  As is the case with Lancome's eyeshadows that I've used (I used a duo of sparkling lavender purple and deep grey called Round Midnight for a long, long time and I still have the much-coveted (in the US at least), Erika F, which is a sparkling olive-toned silver - these are pigmented, smooth and are long-wearing.  The quad consists of 1 intensely jeweled blue shade, a lighter blue shade infused with gold micro-sparkles and 2 gold shades.  Of the 2 gold shades, one is bright tan-gold while the other has a wee bit more of a bronzed, antique gold shade.

That's all the undeclared stash I have ... I think ... *sheepish* LOL!
